October Events in Portland

It is October, and this means it is one of the most beautiful months in Portland. The rainy season hasn’t hit us quite yet, the sun makes autumn leaves glow even more in their glorious reds and yellows, and the little coffee shops around town invite for pumpkin spiced beverages and baked goods. Portland has lots to offer every month of the year, but October is reserved some particularly fun events, some of which we’ll share here with you.

67th Annual Portland Greek Festival
October 5-6, 10 AM to 10 PM
October 7, 11 AM to 8 PM
This super popular event is definitely a big highlight for Portlanders and tourists alike. On October, 5, 6, and 7 you can come for entertainment, cooking demonstrations, shop for imported goods, or simply enjoy a delicious Baklava… or two… or three.

The Wedge
October 6
12 PM to 6 PM
You can’t be lactose intolerant for this event on SE Alder, because The Wedge is a cheese festival that allows you to samples from hundreds of cheeses and other specialty foods.

Portland Night Market
October 12-13
4 PM to 11 PM
Portland will host its popular Night Market on October 12 and 13 on SE Main. Don’t miss this great opportunity to shop til you drop, enjoy delicious food, and live entertainment. The next Night Market will not be until December, so don’t miss it!

Portland Open Studios
October 13-14, October 20-21
10 AM to 5 PM
On two weekends in October, you can tour up to 100 art studios around the Portland area and meet with artists and sculptors one on one, learn about their tools and methods, and maybe even purchase a one of a kind piece of art. This is a self guided tour to which you can print a guide or download an app to your phone.

West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta
October 20
10 AM to 4 PM
Just a bit south of Portland, at the Tualatin Commons, enjoy an event unlike any others! Giant pumpkins are turned into boats and paddle around a course on the lake. The day starts off with a giant pumpkin parade and weigh off, and you’ll be able to carve pumpkins, participate in a costume contest, get your face painted and enjoy live music.

October 22-29

If Independent Film is your thing, then you can’t miss the Portland Film Festival from October 22 to 29. Jam packed with film premieres, networking events, workshops and speakers, this is the event for all lovers of independent film.
