Neighborhood Spotlight: Overlook

Neighborhood Spotlight: Overlook

Would you like to live in the Overlook neighborhood in North Portland?

By Alissa Collins, Co-Founder & Licensed Real Estate Agent

Between N Greeley Ave and Interstate Ave along Killingsworth lies a beautiful part of North Portland. Here you can find Adidas employees (in all their fashion glory) frequenting the local watering holes, neighbors being neighborly, and kids biking and running about. Alissa Collins, co-founder of Latitude, lives in the neighborhood and wants to share her take on why this part of Portland rocks.

TRANSPORTATION
The MAX, bike, scooter!

I love living in Overlook because if I didn’t want to use my car, I wouldn’t have to! I have the Max right out my back door, I have great bike access down Interstate Ave, and can usually find a Lime or Bird scooter within a couple of blocks!

Folks looking to be close to downtown have access to alternative transit opportunities. If you would like to be able to walk to restaurants like Milk Glass Market you should definitely make Overlook a #1 priority in their house search.

EAT
Milk Glass Market, Spitz, and the Mee Dee Thai

>> Milk Glass is a small, cozy restaurant that lives the spirit of Farm to Table. They are known for their delectable baked goods and farm fresh produce. I love their drink menu -- try their home made drinking vinegars! I always try to find an excuse to go.

>> Spitz is our go-to spot when we need to have a delicious quick lunch or dinner (i.e. there’s no food in the house!). Spitz is super kid friendly; it’s nice to know that parents have a spot to let their children play games while Mom and Dad enjoy sangria and a kebab.

>> Mee Dee Thai is friendly, fast, and their food bursts with flavor. They get great evening light and are a perfect place to spread out, bring the family, and enjoy the brilliant cuisine of Thailand.

LIBATIONS
The Old Gold, Lucky Lab, and Mac Wine Cellars

>> At The Old Gold you’ll find the best old fashioned cocktail in town. They also serve some of the greatest bar food in town. We come for a night cap, to catch a game, or enjoy long summer evenings when the temperatures are delightful.

>> Lucky Lab is our neighborhood brewery, always serving up an IPA that bites and pizza that satisfies. We have hosted professional events in their space and love to bring the kids for birthday parties.

>> Mac Wine Cellars is great for picking up a bottle of wine for dinner, a friend, or an event. They’ll even fill up your growler!

COFFEE
The Stacks Coffeehouse & Blend

>> The Stacks Coffeehouse is new on the block, but sure to stick around! The spirit of The Stacks is like a library - bring a book, take a book! This coffee shop is a true expression of neighbors helping neighbors - 2 different neighbors helped do the build out and all the metal work for the shelves and railings.

>> Blend has been a staple in the neighborhood for some time now. A great place to get work done and have a meeting.
